About Our Team
Meet Dr. Carter & his experienced team.
Dr. Todd Carter, DDS
Thank you for visiting our website. My name is Dr. Todd Carter, and I have been caring for families and their dental needs for 26 years.
It has been my pleasure to treat several generations of patients, watching children grow up, graduate high school or college and get married, while still treating their parents and grandparents. It is with great satisfaction that people trust in the care of my whole dental team year after year, and we strive to provide care as if each patient was a member of our family. That’s just the Carter Dentistry way of doing business.
I am a native of Floyd County and the son of Robert and Sandy Carter. Dr. Bob, my Dad, started his dental practice in 1967 on Charlestown Road, in New Albany, and I spent quite a bit of time hanging out there. I spent time there as a patient, doing odd jobs from time to time, and I also did regular jobs like mowing the grass or pulling weeds in the landscape.
I grew up in Floyds Knobs, and graduated from Floyd Central High School in 1988. After high school, I went on to study history at Indiana University (Bloomington), and took pre-requisite classes for dental school admissions, before being accepted to the Indiana University School of Dentistry.
I graduated from IUSD in 1997 and began practice that July with Dr. Bob in the same office we occupy today on Mount Tabor Road in New Albany. When Dr. Bob retired in 2010, we expanded our dental hygiene practice to facilitate the added patient load.
I am very happily married to Sharla since 1998, and we have two daughters: Audrey, who is studying to be a High School English teacher at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, and Tess, who attends Floyd Central High School. My hobbies include fishing, tennis, reading, mowing grass, being an FC Highlander Band family (and all the jobs that may entail, but we love it!), and my fall and winter “moonlighting” gig with www.glicod.com writing articles and broadcasting play-by-play for local high school football and basketball games. Patients often ask where they can hear my broadcasts, and you can catch me often either live streaming at Glicod.com, or filling in on Male Bulldog football broadcasts on WFIA 94.7 FM.
Sharla and I attend and serve at Southeast Christian Church (Indiana Campus) with our family, and she also works for the church. I also attend a weekly early AM Bible study, and will always be happy to pray for you if you have a concern to share!
